Hi just me again, does any one go to Santa pod to race their cars? I was thinking of going there next year when the weather get a bit better. Has any got any tips?

Order a new clutch when you get back ;) (if you havnt already ;))
There was a thread about 0-60 and the best way to launch a scoob, no matter which way you do so you will wear the clutch out faster than with normal use, if yours is a car that redlines at 7k then keep 4k rpm and bring the clutch up and power down, dont side step the clutch and dont try to do this at any higher especially 7k rpm or your going to be going home on a flat bed with AA on the side :(
It will take some getting use to though and dependant on what MY your car is and if its a UK or not (also if its got a warranty so if it has id read the service book about time trials etc).

PS, if it is a uk warrantied car you wont be able to have the clutch replaced if it shows signs of serious abuse (ie its blue).

Make sure you've got at least 500 quid to spare everytime you race. Being without a car because the gearbox is knackered can be a bit frustrating. And yes I know what I'm talking about as I've been changing gearboxes this year like I change my underwear.

You know I was reaaaaaaaly nice to you by not mentioning to your potential buyer of the amount of time you've been to the Pod and haven't changed your clutch even once. Oh, sorry, its okay, you only had 270 BHp. :p :D

edit: Simon, I recommend an AP clutch. If you're feeling lucky (like I did in my WRX), then go for an AP paddle clutch.

it really depends on how much torque your cars pushing but id give the paddle clutch a miss, a bit too much in slow traffic around town so go for an organic AP clutch instead ;)

Whats the diffence between a paddle clutch and a organic clutch. (Clutches not really being my thing)

Katana, is Santa Pod RWYB on 26th Jan? I didn't think it started until later than that. If so I'll see you and Rich there. I've had my HKS Front mounted intercooler fitted now to my STI 5, so hopefully going to beat my time (12.61). I'll get my brother(EVO 6) and my Dad to go again.

hi mate.....first santa pod and we will be there:D

got me p1 now....standard,but r/r at power engineering it came up with 300bhp so quite happy with that.

lloyd, sorry I didn't see your post. This has been moved from General discussion. Anyway, my special Santa Pod calander confirms that the first RWYB is on the 26th mate.

As for paddle clutch, my advice is don't get it. You'll put more stress on your car as the surface area for the flywheel to grip on is much less, hence higher stress and less slip.
