What do you think of the 636? was thinking of one for my next bike, instead of a 2002 cbr6.

Edited to say tho I haven't been to any meetings yet or been too involved in it, just registered with them.

Anyone up for a meeting in the SE for a blast out somewhere????

I've only just started looking on the Bikers forum, so you've probably done this before, but what do you prefer, riding your bike or going for blast in your Scoob?

Personaly i think that i prefer my P1 to my bike, although i've only been riding for 6 months so i'm not as confident on a bike as i am in my car.
Can't ever see me becoming an out and out biker though, with an old fiesta in the garage for when i need to go shopping. My family are all more bike orientated so that doesn't help.

Have got a scooby turbo and a Yamaha R6.
Both are great fun. Both are also different experiences.
R6 I do prefer some days,it is a weekend toy ,but I have been riding bikes for18 years. As for the scooby, great any day of the week.
Be lucky and play safe.

i prefer the bike on the road and the car on the track

I find the bike to serious on the track - i can "play" with the car, get it sideways, get it right, get it wrong. The few times I've got it all spinning and moving on the bike, i've had to change my underwear. You can drive a car over the limit and be ok, I cant ride my bike beyond the limit without falling off.

On the road, cars are boring - big & heavy, get stuck in traffic, people get pissed off if you overtake. The bike has a whole level of freedom and exploitable performance that cars cant reach.

deffo the bike i have a 300bhp + saph 4x4 & YZF 750 and the bike takes it every time.

I love having a blast in the cos but u have to be going to fast and be very stupid to have any real fun.

Where as the bike not much speed is needed to have heaps of fun

I have a 60 mile commute every day. So I have to decide if I spend 40 quid a week for petrol with the bike, or 90 quid in the car. I came to the conclusion that the car is slightly cheaper to run 'cos I don't have to fork out for a back tyre every three weeks. So although I tend to use the car most of the time, I would much prefer to be riding the bike, whatever the weather.

I am the same - not so confident on the bike yet (only passed 3 months ago) so prefer the car (Sti RA Ver 4) most of the time if I want to blast/play. But I agree I do need to go at silly speeds to get a buzz in the car and not nearly so fast on the bike - if it's sunny I would probably take advantage and use the bike.

For pure fun terms, the bike wins hands down. The car is great fun (and not toooo slow) and has the advantage that you can have some fun getting somewhere. I used to think that I'd never even own a car but there are advantages to both and these days, the bike is just a toy.

I also ride the bike for fun in winter and don't let the wet and cold stop me, it's still muchos fun. Thing about a bike though is that it takes a lot more skill to go quickly and it has taken me years to get to the point where I can ride it as fast as it will go (whilst staying safe) on the roads. It's also this increased level of skill and concentration needed which makes getting it right that much more satisfying :D:D:D

I have to be perfectly honest here, since buying the scoob in March this year I have only done about 1k on the bike all summer  (its my first proper fast car and I am addicted to the scoobysport decat sound :p ) Shame on u I hear u cry but everytime I open my garage I just melt looking at my bike :D I was even going to sell it (2001 registered zx6-r j1)for some serious mods on the scoob but I just can not do it and don't think I ever will be able to get rid of it. At the end of the day no matter how many mods I do to the scoob, it will never touch the bike performance wise. I have taken both flat out and both are an adrenalin rush at high speed, but like many say, u can get much more close to the edge on the bike at lower speeds and therefore I would say on that basis I would say my bike is more fun. However the honeymoon period on the scoob has gone on far longer than I expected but by next year I expect to be doing many more miles on the bike again. (I certainly bloody hope so or I will be broke going on current petrol costs of the scoob  ) :D

To me the only way to go is to keep both, I couldn't bear to lose either one of them, they are my two prize toys I bought after getting divorced :D and they are worth every penny I paid for them. Boys toys all the way :p :D

Been P1 owner for 2 years and biker for last 4 months, first bike Kawasaki ZR636.

For town and fun the bike usually wins but for out and out balls out fun the car is for me (the thought of 4 bits of rubber keeping me going where i want to go as opposed to 2 seems more sensible)

So I love them both

The bike wins hands down for me, although the weather limits it's use, I think I've done less than a 1000 miles on the road this year, and only managed 2 track days, I've even thought about getting shut of her, it's a lot of money tied up in a bike, especially a Ducati, plus the 1000's spent on aftermarket stuff.... but the grin factor keeps her in the garage. I love my car (CTR), and it's great fun. Riding a bike on the road has become a numb experience now, too many idiots, and Police everywhere, who are too keen to stop us bikers.

Well the Scoob has a faster top end than me bike for sure (Debben tuned 1977 Z1000A1), but less mid range squirtability (is that a word?) 'but' its just so hard to compare them like for like. I like the bike for busy sunny days when I can appreciate it more for posing and traffic hoppin and eatin insects :), I luv me Scoob for pissin wet horrible winter nights :) I like me Zed cos I always need to tinker and polish it in the garage (beers optional), I love me Scoob cos it has an ashtray and a hi-fi, I love me bike cos it doesnt, see where Im coming from, LOL ;)

Damn you deffo need them both IMO :)

I love me scoob but your limited when you can really go for it in your mota...

I prefer my bike/s, biggest prob I have is do I take the Mille R or do I use the gixer.

Still the buzz is the same as you wheelie into 5th past all slow movin mota's.

Why one or the other?

They both have their pus and minus points. If I'm in a hurry and have to go anywhere there may be traffic (like through London) I take the bike. If it's a nice day and I have to go anywhere at all I take the bike. If the roads look like they're going to be good, I take the bike. Starting to see a picture here?

But if it's horrible and slippery, if I have the family with me, if I have a load of kit to carry, if the roads are crying out for a Scoob or even if I just feel like it (or don't feel like riding) I take the Scoob.

I see nothing controversial in this :)

I love my bike (2000 GSX-R 750)and am almost always grinning when I get off it.

I love my Scoob ('95 WRX with Link & full decat) and am almost always grinning when I get out of it.

I know which one's cheaper to run, though...

I Know its a blatant plug, but for you Ninja Owners, The best Forum for them by far is www.mcnninjas.co.uk (http://www.mcnninjas.co.uk)

What name have you registered under the site with?.
There are regular rideouts to the Oakdene cafe and Boxhill, post it up, your bound to get a few lads up for it as there are loads of ninja riders in the SE, It would have to be a nice day for me as Boxhill is 110 miles from my house and last time I went down that way it p!ssed down all the way back. BTW quite a few MCNNinja members are meeting up on 24/11/2002 at the NEC Bike show (last day bargain hunting).

I am registered under the same username as here, I use it for everything. I was supposed to meet up with a few people once before but it went pear shaped and they didnt turn up so put me off a bit :( Allegedly they got nicked for speeding on the way to meet me. This was summer last year so havent really been too keen on it since and have stayed away from the forum.

Would like to have a bit more luck in sorting something out tho as I ride on my own as none of my mates are into bikes so gets a bit boring on your own after a while.

Just had a look and nothings planned (apart from the 24/11 @ NEC which will be well attended) Some are riding up, but as its bargain hunting day, most will drive or cadge a lift as its no fun riding home with a pair of tyres or a paddock stand slung over your shoulder. I am surprised at the rideout, Best meet up with some local riders first and then if the others don't show, at least you've still got a rideout. If you want to organise a rideout, plan well in advance and get them to meet upm close to where you live (BTW where in the SE are you ?)

Hi Ash, I am in Tunbridge Wells in Kent so have the A21 right on my door step for the London to Hastings blast :D

Unfortunately I have just been made redundant and can not afford to go to the NEC plus I need a new rear tyre on the Kwak and havent got £150 notes spare for that now :(

I think I will have to wait till I get a new job sorted and then get the bike sorted and then look for some rideouts. By then it will probably be appraoching Spring anyway  as jobs dont look too promising before and straight after Christmas :(

Will have to wait and see how things turn out. Hopefully will bump into u at a meet sometime! :D

Redundancy is bad news however you look at it. I know there are a quite a few riders in the Kent Direction, A Member called Rosendale Ninja is selling Part worn Metzeler Rensports (top tyres) for £65 per pair. I'm having a pair and he has about 3 pairs left http://groups.msn.com/MCNNinjas/exchangemart.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=23696&LastModified=4675395925131470908A cheap way of staying legal. Good luck with the job hunting.

Cheers Ash, I will have a look at that link. Still got the original 207's on the bike and I hate Dunlop tyres!

It has to be Scooby on wet roads (no bike can corner like a scooby on wet roads - unless it's got a WSB rider on board maybe), bike on dry.

I had a ZX9R, tuned too, over 145 bhp at back wheels - manic not the word! Would leave anything from the lights. I miss the noise it maked (full Yoshi race system) so now I've changed the whole system on the scooby inc manifold. For now, I'll stick to four wheel drive!

It has to be Scooby on wet roads (no bike can corner like a scooby on wet roads - unless it's got a WSB rider on board maybe), bike on dry.Point to point, in the wet, my bike will still piss on my car (Thunderace vs STi). So the Scoob has a little advantage in the corners (when it's wet) but it looses it on the exit and all the way down the next straight and gains a little back in the braking and then gains some more in the corner but then looses again on the exit and down the next straight etc. etc. etc.......

One day I must get someone who has the same car as me (and drives at a similar speed to me) to follow me and vice versa (whilst on my bike) to see what the on road difference is. You never know, it may prove I'm talking complete rubbish ;):)

There is no competition IMHO, even in the wet. Just sometimes though, I don't feel like using the bike in the wet (as it's just a toy and not for transport) so, like last Sunday, I take the car for a drive in the wet, just for the fun of driving.

Then I get back on the bike, wet or dry and have more fun, and go faster but have to put more commitement in and get a bit colder and wetter in the process. But putting more in and getting more out just makes it more rewarding :):)

All just IMHO of course :)

Matt :)

Matt, you must be a monster biker...I could never hit decent speed around corners on the road in the wet, too much fear of hitting a mud patch or large puddle around a blind bend and chucking the bike!
