Question

Just a general enquiry/advice really. I have a MY01 WRX that has covered about 23000 miles, and whilst the brakes still seem to have plenty of wear, this is one part of the car's consumables that I am unsure in budgeting for. So:

1. Mostly A/B road driving, generally not being too abusive with the brakes (all subjective, I know) what would be your guestimate for the longevity of standard brakes/ discs (mileage).

2.When it comes to replace them, I would like to consider upgrading too, for fast road use- but nothing too drastic, I am not a regular on the track. Would replacing OE with DS2500 pads and Group N discs but keeping OE calipers sound a good option or overkill? Would it be worth having braided hoses too?

3.What is the approximate cost of your recommendation.

Apologies if this has all been asked before, as it must be a fairly standard consideration.
