Question

Has anyone apart from me had a Godspeed brake caliper fail ? I returned mine to Godspeed last May and still haven't heard from them or received a refund.

If I were you I'd give Ian a call, he always seems willing to sort out problems should they occur, it also seems that you maybe shouldn't have waited so long to get it sorted.

Klookie , You havent had any responce from me as I didn't know who the customer was as you bought them through some one else , The reason the caliper leaked was it was contaminated from your car when it was bled ,something had got into the caliper and dislodged the seal off it's seat causing it to leak , it had nothing to do with the way the caliper was built , I have informed the supplier of this but we have had no responce from them , I have had an email from you this weekend so I will reply to you direct to sort this out for you , Many thanks Ian ,

As regards to your original question , no-one has had a caliper fail from us .

For the record, I have checked again with my supplier and they are adamant that no communication was received from Godspeed following the return of the brake kit in May 2002 despite sending a recorded delivery letter and various emails to Godspeed. I have asked Godspeed to send me copies of any communications to my supplier to me so I can take it up with them.

I also strongly refute any suggestion that I caused the failure during the bleeding or even fitting of the brakes. All the items used were clean and a filter was used between the fluid bottle and the brake reservoir. A qualified reputable mechanic assisted me in bleeding the brakes. I have many years expereince in fitting and maintaining braking systems and have never seen this problem before, I have also never had brakes fail on me before and this instance was quite alarming in that there was no warning. I just don't see how the seals between the caliper halves which are clamped under extreme pressure can be dislodged with 'something' moving in the fluid.

I am now taking this off-line to discuss with Godspeed direct in the hope that we can come to some mutually beneficial solution.
