Well worth finding out what compund the pads are.

I ran a set of Mintex 1155 compound pads on my MY97 a few years back and was mightily impressed (on standard Subaru discs). Excellent bite from cold, and it took a lot to fade them. Kind of a wierd bedding in procedure, but it worked!

A friend of mine tried 1144 compound pads on grooved Tar-Ox discsand was really disappointed. Lots of dust and they seemed to fade with less effort, although this might have been down to the discs?

Different kettle of fish but I use 1166 pads on my rally Nova for tarmac events. Take a couple of corners to warm up but once warm they are simply awesome and Im only running std vectra front calipers and std vented disks with drums at the rear. Might have something to do with the supersoft Yoko 32Rs as well though..

Probably going to swap to 1155s for winter events/wet work as the 1166s need to be hot to work..

Paul..

Right, so they aren't too bad though right??

And if I could get them for a VERY good deal, it would be worth it??

Also, how many variations are there?????

Interesting results, it just shows you need to mix and match. I had a MY97 (2 pot) with OE discs and Mintex 1155 pads, loads of dust, very noisy at slow speeds (metallic scraping sound) and still faded. The other problem was they ate disks (2 sets of pads to one disk). I then swapped to cheap pattern part pads (£35 per set from Camberley Auto Factors) and Tarox G88 disks (40 grooves). This combination was silent, worked as well as the OE disks and Mintex pads, produced less dust and wear was much better from pads and mainly disks. I have just upgraded to 4 pot calipers and changed to Tarox G88 disks all round with OE pads (came with callipers) on the front and Lockheed/Delphi pads for rears. I may try Tarox pads when the current ones wear out. This is also a quiet setup with much less fade, but the OE front pads are very dusty!
