SCC PERFORMANCE 11 May 2002, 17:25 For those of you who still have some questions about the Flamer Kit... Here are the fitting instructions and what the kit consists of.
This kit has all the parts you will need for installation.
1 x coil, 1 x control module, 1 x spark plug, 1 x spark plug adaptor, 1 x HT lead, 1 x switch, 1 x length of wire, 4 x female spade connectors, 1 x male spade connector, 2 x acme bolts, 1 x rubber grommet.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Drill hole into tail pipe (as close to back box as possible) and weld in the adaptor (supplied). Then screw the spark plug into the adaptor.
2. Fit coil in suitable place (such as in the boot) using acme bolts supplied. This is also a suitable place for the earth wire to be bolted to the chassis.
3. Run HT lead through boot floor (remove rubber boot on HT lead to do this) so it can be connected to spark plug in the tail pipe. If there’s no grommets in floor you will need to drill a hole and use the rubber grommet supplied.
4. Locate a suitable position for the switch (such as drilling a hole in the dashboard or steering cowling) and mount switch.
5. Find an ignition live source and run a wire from it to the switch and then on to the coil and module (in boot). Connect to the inline fuse at the module with a suitable connector.
For operating instructions and FAQ’s please visit our website www.flamerkits.co.uk
I hope this helps you.
Kind Regards
Tony

Gridlock Mikey 22 October 2002, 21:10 I'm just after a bit of info about them.......honest ;)
I figure that because they are switch off and on-able, then what's the worst that can happen?
Any web sites i can have a look at?
Mikey
M0NEY 23 October 2002, 08:43 Yep. Have a look at www.sccperformance.co.uk
elgordano 23 October 2002, 14:33 I really do need to go and visit SCC Performance (http://www.sccperformance.co.uk) as they are just round the corner from me.
Gordo
Gridlock Mikey 25 October 2002, 13:33 Who's got one?
Tell me more :D
Don't be shy now ;) I reckon that they could be a right old laff :D Tailgaters, something different at meets, flames without your car having to be red hot and revved to buggery, to name but a few goodies. Then there's the pose value :D C'mon, a well timed, appropriate flame is impressive :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I reckon that it is destined to become "Max Powerish" but at the moment it costs about £150 to get done so most of 'em can't afford them yet (Flame suit on ;) ) unlike the £20.00 neon washer thingies.
So who's got a kit fitted?
Mikey
cunns 25 October 2002, 17:18 If you are buying one make sure you have the cat removed as I have tried one on a WRX and it won't work with the cat.
M0NEY 26 October 2002, 10:45 Its already been done by some of the Maxpower boys! I have seen it on a bmw, a cossie, an evo and 2 fiestas. Most of them wont touch it though cause they are driving around in their saxos/corsas and dont want to do it.
Rice Rocket 26 October 2002, 16:15 Seen it on a 200.000 miler 290bhp scooby today, it was the bolloxs, go for it and get ne. If only i hadnt bought the blitz zorst now :(

DanTheMan 27 October 2002, 12:09 I was up for one of these too....
I believe you have to tap a hole in the exhaust tip after the backbox and screw a spark plug in, then wire it up to a coil and switch and hey presto flameouts.
I wish there was a more subtle way to install them ???
Hol 28 October 2002, 10:33 I can see that the coil and plug generate the spark, but how does it actually know when to discharge?
Or do you have to push a switch when you want it to work?
cunns 28 October 2002, 13:27 To fit you have to drill a hole in you tailpipe, then weld in a little holder for the sparkplug to screw into to. you then have to drill or find a hole in you boot floor to house the spark lead which comes from the exhausts. you then have to screw 4 self tappers into your boot floor to hold the coil in place. Then wire it up to alive and you have a flame at the throw of a switch.
Andy Porter 29 October 2002, 13:25 I hear you Mikey, these things must be way
I just wish someone would fit it to their Scoob and be our beta tester !
Regards,
Andyp
hades 29 October 2002, 19:59 Where's Nate when you need him?
Have seen the effect of the kit on his car, which is big flames, and quite a good way of frightening off neoned up Corsa's ;) :D
Gridlock Mikey 30 October 2002, 09:23 Any more experiences?
Mr A ?
Mikey
DanTheMan 30 October 2002, 09:29 Well I have followed a stickered up yellow scoob to the guildford cruise and was very impressed by the big blue flames whenever he changed gear and when he backed off the throttle. I had a word with him and it was one of the SCC flamer kits, It was fully decat and I presume he also had a VTA dump valve. The only problems that you might have is a singed rear bumper if you do it standing still.....
GROUP BUY ANYONE ???
M0NEY 30 October 2002, 09:42 Yeah i would be interested in this if a group buy goes ahead. SCC sell them for £99 or £149 inc fitting and im sure a few people will be interested here
Andy Porter 30 October 2002, 13:28 Could be up for the group buy.....
Regards,
Andyp

Sorry for the photo but everyone that saw it was impressed. (Not my Car see Scottish AWD meet)
This was flamer kit as described above. I believe when switched on it sparks every so often to ignite the unburnt rich mixture coming out the exhaust on lift off of throttle. It worked very well. For 100 quid tis a lot of fun and stops people driving too close to your rear bumper.
Beastie :D

stevenuk300 31 October 2002, 14:29 I'd be up for a group buy. Does it matter if you have twin pipes?
Hol 31 October 2002, 16:04 If it is just a coil, lead, plug and fitting all wired up to a clutch pedal switch id be tempted to make one. But i bet it aint!.
In which case id be interested in a group buy :)
Gridlock Mikey 31 October 2002, 16:20 Ha :D
I knew i wasn't alone :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Mikey
Up for group thingy by the way (If we are still allowed to do them on scoobynet that is ;))

stevenuk300 01 November 2002, 14:55 Can these be fitted to a twin pipped exhaust, or those it require 2 fittings, one for each pipe?
Gridlock Mikey 01 November 2002, 17:55 Twin pipped? :D
If you mean piped like the OE back box then 1 kit will do, If however you mean twin piped ala tvr then you'll need two
Mikey
jonny gav 02 November 2002, 00:16 looks like great fun, count me in then :D :D :D
