If I get a Clifford Concept 500 removed from another car to install into my Scoob, is it possible to work out what wire does what? Obviously they are all black and the tags have been removed but maybe the position of each wire going into the control module can be used to work it out?
BTW Has anyone got the installation PDF so I can have a look? Going to get it done professionally but just like to know what's involved and the install documents have been removed from the clifforddealer.com website.
Cheers!

Find yourself a VSIB accredited Clifford installer who can supply the three fresh wiring looms needed to reinstall it with so it is 'as new', install it for you and then certify it. As the C500 is still a current model this is possible, whereas if for instance it was an obsolete C50X, it wouldn't be able to be certified. This is because when a Cat 1 alarm goes obsolete, it is then removed from the Thatcham list and any installations of it performed AFTER the date of deletion from the list are no longer deemed compliant.

Thanks for the info Max. I imagine these looms are gonna be pretty expensive, is it worthwhile compared to buying a complete new system? BTW How does the loom attach, are there plugs on the control unit to allow an easy changeover?

IIRC when i had my Concept 600 moved from one car to another the new loom wasn't that expensive (£60 or something like that), it was more the labour time to remove and re-install the alarm, was about 3 hours to remove and a day to re-install.

As Ian says, expect to pay around 60 to 90 pounds for the three new wiring looms, then there is obviously the labour to remove the alarm and re-install it. It won't be as cheap as some might think, but when it comes to the better specced Cliffords, it is still cost effective

re; c600 price
the retail price if done by a clifford dealer is 699
or as low as 475 if done at a non autherised dealer such as my self and it still comes with all the certs and life-time warrenty
and it is not done by a 18 year old trainee?? that did the clifford course last wednesday and now thinks he,s the dogs doodaars!!

I paid £50 for taking the C500 alarm out of the Renault 5.
I paid a further £80 to hve it installed in the Scooby, using the same wiring loom.
The installation took two days

I fit motorcycle CAT1 alarms and was told by the alarm manufacturers that if an alarm was moved from one bike to another it had to go back and be re-loomed or it would not meet CAT 1 certification.
Don't know if this applies to cars or not.
