Sorry to hear that mate.

Glad to hear you are OK though and that the bike isn't written off. :) I've been down that road a lot in the car and by bike, and that Armco does not look at all inviting.

Good to see that only your pride was really hurt. This is not intended to sound aloof, but you must analyse why you came off and alter your riding style to reduce the chance of it happening again.
When you steer, do you use your bodyweight to corner or do you put pressure on the bars. Practice your countersteering and actively do it every time you ride, it will give you more confidence in the corners (more input through the bars = a tighter turn).
Did the front end break away ?. If it did, its because you are loading up the front tyre beyond its grip levels or you ran over something in the road, practice throttle control to balance the weight between the front and rear tyre (scoobs do this mechanically through the front rear split so the drivers don't have to think about it).
Try and do all your braking before you tip the bike in and maintain a steady throttle through the corner.

I fell off last year because I carried my braking into the corner and I ran over a spot of oil with my front tyre on the entry to a roundabout (not doing anything silly, just bimbling along) and it was a hard lesson to learn. My riding style is completely different now and it hasn't been easy to change. If you don't do this exercise, you run the risk of repeating the same mistake again. Look at it as a warning, next time you may slide into the path of a car.

Ride safe :0)

Sorry to hear that and glad you're ok. Makes you realise how crucial it is to have proper gear on!!!!!!!

Do you know what happened?

Matt :)

Having thought long and hard about it, I can only conclude it was a lack of concertration on my part...i think i was looking in my mirrors when i should have been looking around the corner.

Still doing 80 miles a day ;) might have to get the winter gloves out, it's getting nippy in the mornings
