View Full Version : ### Next SIDC Driver Development Day ###
Fat Boy 10 May 2002, 09:56 Chris
Maybe but as I've just taken Voluntary redundancy from work, Mrs FB may not approve of my first expenditure of my retirement being on a track day. Let me work on her, as they say. Even if I don't drive I may come and spectate, and blag a few rides.
Cheers
J
PS Like you, I hope there will be some godlike drivers demonstrating their innate driving skill this time as well:D

WRXBOB 10 June 2002, 16:59 Not been to this track before, where can I find details of the track? Sounds like its gonna be a top day out.
Forgive my ignorance, but is this a different track to Rockingham circuit or is it the same track with a different name?
Want to make sure I know what track I'm booking.
Cheers
BOB
EDIT
I'm taking corners like a pro already !!!!!

Mellow Yellow ! 02 October 2002, 23:02 OK, here you go ............
The next " Driver Training & Development Day "
We've secured the excellent facilities at Bedford Autodrome :) which will take place on the 30th November next and the best bit......it's a Saturday :D
Anyone who came to this SIDC event earlier this year will remember how fantastic the day was, even the weather seemed to be planned for us :)
So, the full G.T. circuit :D and the format will be Open Pit lane but with the usual Ducks and Drakes initially to ease the peeps in who have either not done this circuit or indeed any circuit before :)
Cost will be a very competitive £165 for SIDC members and £175 for non-members and you can pay by the usual easy methods of either our own on-line shop @ http://shop.sidc.co.uk or via post to; SIDC, 8 Brayers Mews, Rochford, Essex, SS4 1XF.
Please bear in mind that similar days @ Bedford cost anything from between £175 - £250 with other commercial organisations so hopefully it's attractive enough to ensure early bookings :)
Competitive car insurance for track cover is currently being negotiated for SIDC members and I will post these details very soon.
Please feel free to mail me direct with regards to any questions or queries re; this event or post here and I will do my upmost to answer accordingly, I can also be contacted via mobile; 07799 - 881188.
It is the intention of your club to firm up an excellent calender of events for next year so please keep your suggestions coming in with regards to circuits etc....you'd like to experience :)
Till then.
harvey 03 October 2002, 04:55 Yes please Darling. Why you no phone me?
Mellow Yellow ! 03 October 2002, 15:30 Tyres Northampton ( 01604 - 588599 ) will most definately be in attendance to support us :)
Please ring them direct with your orders ASAP to ensure definate delivery of your requirements to the track :)
Evo Rosco 03 October 2002, 19:27 Chris
do you know the noise restrictions for Bedford and is it just static or do they do a drive by as well. If I can pass it, I'll definately be interested.
Steve
Danny Fisher 03 October 2002, 19:30 Mellow, please check your mail.
Thanks Dan
Mellow Yellow ! 03 October 2002, 22:06 Steve,
No drive by test :)
Last time we were not tested :) however, 105dbs I believe is the limit...easy peasy even in your slow motor ;) but I'll double check and get back to you.

Fat Boy 04 October 2002, 14:55 Chris
There is a form of drive by test at Bedders.
They have a mike near the track edge after turn 1 I think and a real time display of the noise in the offices. I think W9GTR /Arron Bird fell foul of it one of the times I was there.
But not as sensitive as Castle Combe for example.
J
T5NYW 04 October 2002, 16:46 same hotel as last time
O/k your Tempting me how much is 18K insurance
Tony
Hoppy 04 October 2002, 20:03 I'm in :D
Mellow Yellow ! 05 October 2002, 05:47 Hi John, I'll be confirming noise regs (if any) in the next day or 2, just awaiting facts coming back from Bedford....hope you can make it ?
Tony, shall we do the same hotel or seek an alternative.... :)
I'll be back re; trackside insurance very soon :)
Evo Rosco 05 October 2002, 14:25 Chris make sure you reserve three spaces for me Dave Drabble and Blade obviously depending on what the rictor scale is for the day :D
Is Dave allowed to bring his SR3?
Steve
P.S. Good to see someone organising an SIDC day! Keep up the good work.
Evo Rosco 06 October 2002, 18:02 Yeah it's the same track as Donington as well :D
Try this link and it will tell you what you need to know

WRXBOB 06 October 2002, 18:27 Thanks for that,now I know.

BEDFORD-AUTODROME (http://www.bedford-autodrome.com)
I thought the Rockingham circuit was in Bedfordshire(?) so thats why I was getting them mixed up. Rockingham is further North near Corby, but not a million miles away, but obviously NOT the same place . . . DOH !
I see from that Bedford is an airfield site, so whats the track surface like? Is it harsh on tyres?
I have just got a set of slicks I'll be using so hope its not wet/raining on the day or I wont be going on the track 'cos SLICKS + RAIN = ACCIDENT!
Cheers,
BOB
Evo Rosco 06 October 2002, 18:29 As far as I know it's a proper tarmac surface, never been there myself.
daved6 06 October 2002, 19:08 The Full GT circuit is good tarmac with lots of safe grass run off areas with all sorts of corners, fronm tight second gear hairpins right up to flat out 4th/5th gear sweeping curves, lovely 4wheel drifts :)
The only question is whats the noise limit & is the SR3 okay ?
Mellow Yellow ! 06 October 2002, 20:07 Cheers John/Steve.....
I'll confirm in the next day or so re; the noise regs and Dave's motor, we have in the past struggled with having a mix of "open top" cars and scoobs/EVO's but times change and many more people are happy to accept the differing marques....after all Dave is a cut above the rest with regards to his driving skills ;)
(that's another pint you owe me on Thursday night :) )
mikeesingh 07 October 2002, 12:04 at last a local track event on a saturday :D
chris would i be able to do a half day ?(dont think car would last all day)
mikee
Mellow Yellow ! 07 October 2002, 13:14 Mike,
Don't be a wuss and get it booked and done ;)
philgr 07 October 2002, 22:00 Booked !!!!
Myself (MY00 PPP) and a friend (Civic Type R), will put some arms up backs tomorrow and get GAZK (P1) to book up tomorrow.
How about a list of confirmed people and cars so we can get a idea of the numbers and type of machinery on display,
(and so we can blag rides)
Phil G
PS Mellow can you send be the details of the hotel you mentioned in the email you sent and ill get booked up
(there is a pint in it for you ;) )
