View Full Version : Pedestrian Psychology
Diesel 27 September 2002, 21:26 Well Lemmings I call them, pedestrians...
Why do humans rely on the sense of hearing BEFORE the sense of sight?
Is it only me that gets pissed off with pedestrians just throwing themselves at you, when a glance in the right direction would have saved them a heart-attack.
Also, and clearly, the red man on the pedestrain crossing doesn't mean STOP, it means GO ON, RISK IT! Well, since I dont ever jump red lights, I expect two legged lemmings to do the same... Sorry if I buzzed you in your risk.
They should all be banned, and made to go on the tube!
D ;)
mutant_matt 28 September 2002, 10:10 Yes, never understood why people stop looking at traffic lights when they get out of their cars
The one that annoys me the most is a parent with their child in a pushchair, they push the chair out into the road, into your path before they look to see if anything is coming images/smilies/mad.gif:eek::rolleyes:
Have had fun in the past though. Riding down the outside of a traffic jam, come upon a pedsetrian who hasn't looked as they walk out into the "middle lane". Sidle up behind them and when you're right next to them, rev the engine and sound the horn at the same time :D:D:D:D Makes 'em jump and hopefully, will make them think about looking next time ;);):D:D
Matt :)

Matt, are you confident that a lot of people notice little things like that when they are in their cars?
I for one am not :(

mutant_matt 30 September 2002, 07:40 Good point :(
DRUNKNORGY 30 September 2002, 08:48 Keep up the revs in a low gear through town (and use a race can) Works every time for me
Diesel 30 September 2002, 15:57 Much truth in that Race Can thing...
Does anyone know where I could get some for my Cagive Gran Canyon? Its the one with a 900 Ducati engine. Have had no luck searching - its too'odd' a model unf...
fast bloke 01 October 2002, 01:41 Get a zxr250 and ride about town in 1st. 30 MPH comes up at about 14000 RPM. Try not hearing that (I must admit - most people used to duck and look up for some strage reason  )
gooser 01 October 2002, 13:44 Wa*kers all of them. My 4 day old (second hand) XR got wiped out - me included after one of these pr*cks ran through a green traffic light. Now I'm out of pocket coz the useless fu*cking filth haven't got any law to prosecute pedestrians that do this. No insurance either means tough sh*t Mr Biker, pay for your own damages.
mutant_matt 01 October 2002, 14:07 You can sue the pedestrian in the civil court for this though. It's hassle but I wouldn't let them get away with it!
Matt :(
gooser 01 October 2002, 14:12 Thing is mate, he was freshly imported from India. He could only speak his native tongue, and his English based family looked this side of poor to tell you the truth. So it would cost me money to get no reward. Bummer, but that's the way it is.
Andy Porter 01 October 2002, 17:24 I hear you Diesel, I had a school boy cross the road as I was filtering, he saw me, and instead of turning back he ran infont of me, I had seen him, the guy in his car I was filtering past didn't
Lets just say it was so close I shut my eyes....

Diesel 04 October 2002, 15:30 Guys - I got the C A N S ordered at last (from Germany) after a year of looking! I hope 105dB is L O U D enough to save some two legged lives.
Whilst there is still some of the boy racer in me, the real reason is to stop being assaulted by pedestrians daily on my cross London commute!
Legend has it that on a clear day you will be able to hear me in Brighton ;)
