Im thinking of getting a sports 400 as a first bike and was wondering if anyone out there could give me views/opinions etc on the bikes that fall in that catergory eg. zxr, fzr, vrf, cbr, etc

Cheers

BTW my budget will be limited to around £1500 (so itll have to be the older bikes 89-90-91 etc)

Unless you are very small I wouldn't go for a 400, just my opinion.

However if you can come to Scotland I can sell you a low miles, good condition 'K' reg CBR600, £2000 to you.

Just bought a Suzuki GSX-R 400, they are a bit cramp on the legs and hands/wrists but you'll get used to it, looks nice for a 400cc bike.

p.s. Corpulent Tosser, could you email me some pics as i may know someone interested in your bike.

if you are 5ft 8 or greater then 400s might be too small.

however, this

is going cheap :) :) (well within your price range :) )

zzr600s

are quick and comfortable and handling is well planted and stable :)

with 100bhp it was the quickest 600 of it's day and still a brilliant performer even compared with modern machines.

good all rounder really, reliable cheap to run etc.

have had it for about over 18 months and i still smile every time i ride it :)

there are a few ex zzr riders on here and i'm sure they will have favourable reports of them :)

Sports 400.
There is only one = Honda RVF 400:):)
i like the Gsxrs also, but matched with a de-limit,race pipe and a jetting change i doubt any 400 could match it.

Hi have to back Duncan up on this. :D My wife has one, and it's superb for a 400. The exhaust note is addictive :D and overall it's one of the best 400s on the market, IMHO ;):D.

Take a look at the second hand prices for a RVF400 against say a CBR400, or ZZR400, and you should see that they hold there value better.
