Quick question for you security experts. My dad has an old Fiesta that he bought cheap off an old chap. It has one of those "The Immobiliser" things fitted, where you have to plug a key in each time you drive it.

However, the locating pin has snapped off the key, and now when it starts, if the key is not just perfect, the engine makes a really bad grating/screeching noise.

The car is mint (i.e. 1992, 32k miles  ), but only worth about £900, hence no need for an immobiliser.

Question is: How easy are they to take off, and is it a professional job or a wire cutter job? :)

No it shouldnt be a problem just follow the wire from the immob to what ever theyre joined to,then all you need to do is cut and rejoin the original wires together. Its very simple and logical once youve found the wires.
