Neil

i see your point and your list, but then I look at that fantastic list and I have to disagree.

Maradona arguably the best player ever (our/my generation)
Maradona and Pele both say George Best was the greatest player ever

Gazza F*cked up but am I pleased to have watched some amazing football from the man.

Cantona was a Legend at Leeds, lets not forget the hatrick against Liverpool, Ferguson then made probably one of the best signings ever in the English game and as history tells Cantona was the catalyst for that team, from which they went to great achievements.

Keane, of all the players on your list I do think he has problems he struggles to deal with, but as a footballer its hard to remember a more consistant (no 11 red card jibes please ;) ) committed hard working passionate midfielder, as for his abilities I doubt anyone wouldnt want him running there midfield because you know he will battle to the death ala Viera.

Lastly young Anelka, Gifted, Manipulated by his own brothers and still trying to understand the offside rule :D

But all in all I'm lucky to have witnessed some of the aboves footballing talents in my lifetime and if any of the above were to have not been totally selfish, arrogant in their attitude to life/football they probably wouldnt have been half they players they are/were (anelka excepted, sorry Kippax he's too young)

If any of them (again Anelka excepted)hadnt F*cked up they could they have done?, probably been the best footballer this planet had ever seen !!, which is never going to happen, these guys thrived off the arrogance and their reputation and their love of football, thats what drove them on thats what inspired them and because of that they did improve and you probably did see the best of them, how good did you want them to be :D

IMHO
Phew that was a long one, to long to spell check so apologies in advance:D Edited because I spelt your name wrong, what a twat, the first word wrong

Forget about the hip problem, is this tw4t finally going into hospital for the brain transplant he so clearly requires?

His conflicting statements yestrday plus a red card are sure signs of a man who is on the edge of losing it big style.

If Fergy doesn't let him have a long rest for a while then I'm sure the FA are about to......

I love Keano and any team in the world would have him in the centre of midfield as their captain, whatever you all say.

umm, yes he's a good player but his attitude stinks

all you man u fans should look at cantona. great player but what he could he have done if he wasnt such a t*sser.

hey just remembered, he wasnt going to play for his country any more. is there a pattern developing here?

Who gives a f**k if Keano doesn't play for his country anymore? I don't - I'm English. Who gave a f**k that Eric didn't play for his country for years? I didn't - I'm English. It keeps/kept them nice and fresh for United.

All you ABU's crack me up at times. Why don't you go on about Vieira or someone else like that for a change?

LOL, because we get such a reaction out of you Man U fans, that's why !!

i dont give a sh*t where roy keane comes from, he's still a nutter!
I was having a laugh, that's all.

If it makes you feel better i think viera's a t*sser too.

oh and my point wasn't about man u players specifically

my comment was about fantastically talented players who f*ck up because their attitude is questionable .this holds them back IMHO

to this list add
Gazzer
Anelka (he will i'm sure of it)
Maradona
George Best...

good points funkii

but my question is what COULD they have done?

great achievements (for me) include;

gazza against scotland (yes that goal)
best going thro players while they kicked chunks out him
maradona in the world cup against england (not the hand of god)

as you say it was a pleasure to watch but all of them never really achived their full potential. that's the sad part
