I've put the standard ones on but colour coded. Black strips looked horrible on a silver car!!

I was happy with the black strips breaking up the mass of silver and it stopped it looking like a big moving kitchen appliance!!!!

They both look good! Do they work ok though?

Can I ask for part numbers and prices (painted & fitted) for an MY02 ?

Cheers

Dunno if they work, because the car is still to new, but it must help a bit.

As for the part numbers, just ask at your local subaru dealer, there is only one type for the MY02 and they are £50 for a set (ouch!). I got them sprayed at a local paint shop which cost me £30, but i've been told that Subaru will paint them also.

Hope this helps
Gareth.

???My dealer quoted me £143 and they needed painting!

Is £50 for the WRX ones fitted DIY?

Part numbers would really help?

Finally, did you have to remove the STI stickers along doors?

Strangely enough I have just asked a dealer for a price for colour coded strips on my '99 DBM. I will post the price when they ring back.

£226.20 colour coded and fitted. £42+Vat black fit yourself.

Edited to add quotes.

Those prices are fecking outrageous. I've just had an estimate for a completely new door and that worked out at £98+VAT for paint materials.

So how can the charge £180 for painting 4 strips of rubber

Get them standard and ask any local bodyshop to spray them for you.

Stefan,

yeah, I thought they were taking the pi$$ myself so I am checking out the alternatives.

I am told there is a 'plasticiser' which must be added to the paint to make it flexible otherwise it will flake off.

The wife reckons they will look OK in black - but then she is an accounts clerk.

£50 was a DIY fit, my dealer wanted £50 to fit them and even he said that was a rip off, but the price is fixed.

With a steady hand, they are easy to fit and as I said, £30 at a local body shop to spray them. Most good sprayers will have a colour matching book and with your body colour code, get a perfect match.
