I was also on speccy control with Rich at Haye Park, I just want to apologise to the bloke in the red t-shirt that i shouted at just before lunch.....low blood sugar levels and all that! :D

Then again he was about the 20th person that had just walked past me ignoring our requests to please stay in the speccy area.

Excellent day anyway! Andy Burtons 306 is always a highlight, even when everyone ran out of HQ when he was leaving thinking he was gonna do some mad manoveres(sp) only to see him drive off sedately lol

To the Salway arms Saturday nighters yes the campsite was bloody freezing! plus wood pigeons at 6:30am, what a noise!! Shoot the lot of em! ;)

The table at the Balti house is already booked for the friday night too!!

I'm free on Saturday so could do with some info. A map/exact location and start times would be handy! I drove thru' Ludlow today and couldn't find out any info from the locals in the petrol station.

So did anyone go in the end.

176 entries though a few had gone by the time SS2 has started.

Highlights of the rally:
- Andy Burtons Pug Cossie in rude health and lasting the distance.
- the various Mk2 Escort shells that will need banging back into shape after the rally
- the Impreza that must have done just about the whole rally with no windscreen (no other damage to the car). Hope there weren't too many flies :D around as both the driver and co-driver were wearing open face helmets
- Blakemans Sausage Escort Cossie on the loose (John F what happened to the car? it passed me on SS2 running on the pace but apparently didn't make it to the end of the stage)
- the MG Maestro making it to the end
- the guy in the Corolla running last on the road having to work out where the stage was because most of the marshalls had gone home!!!!!

Had a great laugh running chase car for car 112. No problems during the day for the car or crew, which was nice. Unfortunately us chase car crews never get to see anything of the rally and it sounds like Andy Burton was on a flyer this weekend.
Some nice cars out and some very committed drivers got some surprise results.
Pleased to report the service crews anti-lag was working well on Saturday thanks to a cracking curry on the Friday night!
We stayed in the same Travel-lodge as the Blakemans team. Probably saw a few people off here but didn't realise it!

...yup cracking event as always :D

..I was running spectator control at the speccy area in Haye Park all feckin day  tis a shame that people dont realise that marshalls are there for their safety and that giving us abuse aint gonna help their cause any... to55ers..

..oh well wait til they see wots planned for the Network Q ;)

...anyhoo good to meet up with a few of the usual suspects.. J4MES we were in the Salwey Arms Fri and Sat night.. were you???

Richard

My condolences (sp?), trying to control spectators must be a real pain. The number of people that seem to think playing chicken with the rally cars is really exciting

Definitely some commited drivers on this event :D and a good variety of cars on the event.

A definite for next year me thinks.

Richard, was that the one within staggering distance of the Travelodge and was that you in the orange Elise?

yep, that was richards tango. You must have seen my STi5 TypeRA in the carpark, i stayed there friday/sat night.

The Escort Cosworth set on fire mid stage 2. It looks like the exhaust was knocked sideways and was touching the kevlar floor guard, with the ALS running the pipe gets red hot and it ignited the kevlar, they ran about 4 miles in stage with the floor under the car on fire, eventually the paint under the drivers seat set on fire and filled the car with smoke, so they stopped at Junction17 and managed to put the fire out thankfully.

Damn shame, they set a great time on stage1 taking it steady and were looking set for a good day. This follows on the back of the Dukeries where they were lying 3rd overall when the steering broke due to a £5 bolt sheering!

It looks like we will be out on the Plains in 3 weeks. Our championship is over though, we were 3rd before the dukeries but now have dropped to 9th and have no chance of a top 3.

We managed to get there about 11:00 and stayed all day. The dust took some showering out when we got home though ! Good day all round. I was worried about setting the field (very dry grass) on fire in the car park as the bottom heat shield was removed not long ago.

I was out in the crossroads subaru car 72 but sheared a drive shaft at junction 7 on the last stage Doh? Centre dif was shafted and couldnt drive out the stage still at least we wern't
off in the trees. More luck though as i had a chap from work in the car and he ahd never done a rally before.
