I wanna paint my brake calipers as i've seen so many do, is there any trick to doing them? They seem to look like new. Do you paint them with a brush? Then paint the lettering last? Do you take them off to paint & how?

dyney has it just about covered, and it's exactly what i did and got very good results...

i would add that halfords do an excellent range of 'hammerite smooth' paints - much more than b&q etc. also try and get a small artists brush for the 'subaru' logo and trim it a little, i found that a tapered edge worked really well.

No need to buy a small brush for lettering. just use a cotton bud.

It's easier if you take them off but then you have to blead the system.

With a bit of care you can do them in place.

-Clean them up with a wire brush.
-Use some brake cleaner solvent(aerosol) (available at Halfords) to get rid of any grease and oil.
-Mask off the blead nipple, hoses and pads etc.
-Then paint using Caliper paint (Halfords £5.99) or Smooth Hamerite and a brush.
-You can now wipe the paint off the lettering or Leave it to dry and paint it in. *Tip paint a flat surface and press it on to the lettering*
-Leave to dry and pop the wheel back on.

Should take about 30mins a corner:)

Iain.
