b) Can you settle a quick argument for me- The TR7 V8- production or a special? I assume reckon it was some kind of homologation special, but my Dad reckons they were post-production conversions.

As for the Homologation vs. Specials bit. Well, actually the TR7V8 was homologated for Rallying. It's even homologated as a Group B car (Like RS200, 6R4, etc). Obviously a run of a certain designated number were built for the express purpose of rallying them, by the factory. As opposed to the TR8 which was the factory road car.

Our (Dad's now - was mine!) TR7V8, I bought as a TR7 back in 1990 I think, then had converted to a TR7V8 by Grinnall Specialist Cars (Bewdley) in 1991.

Bluprinted 3.5 litre Rover V8 engine, std cam, twin SU carbs. Probably 160(ish)BHP, and 200lbs/ft torque. Rover SD1 Vitesse four-pot calipers and solid discs at the front.

Sounded nice, didn't it. :D
