Question

OK, firstly I know F ALL about Windows or XP so this could prove tricky.

We have a customer using XP.
They have an internal modem.
If they connect to the internet using one of our dial ups they can surf the net.
If they are connected to the internet (for a couple seconds) and then check their mail it works, sending and receiving.

If they are not connected and they create a new mail then hit send and then confirm connection, the modem dials and sometimes it connects and sends but sometimes it fails sending.

It is as though the computer thinks the modem is ready/cnnected and tells Outlook to send/receive.
An error is shown. (cant remember exact message...)
Pressing send and receive again collects/sends mail fine.

There are no problems with either the sending or receiving mail servers.

Is there a way of changing the handshake speed during connection?
Is there any other things I can check?
Is there any point in this Mac user trying to help PC users?

Any help gratefully received!
Rich

Does it connect every time, or could it be that the mail send failed cos it never connected. Pressing the button again makes it connect second time around. Just a thought.

No, it definatley connects, it just fails sending and receiving, pressing the send and receive button immediately collects the mail without reconnecting.
