Rebecca 06 January 2002, 16:33 Stef,
Is it the full GT circuit ... does it include the Melbourne Hairpin???? ie. are we going to be in for loads of fun or just some fun? :)

Hi Peeps.
Sorry for the delay in finalising details of this event to you all, the reasons for which are too boring to go into on here! ;)
The basic format for the track side of things at our Summer Extravaganza have now been sorted, and is as follows....
SIDC Summer Extravaganza
Sunday July 7th
Donington Park Circuit
The Driver Development side of the day is split into morning and afternoon sessions, both run as open pitlanes to maximise track time. In addition to this there are two further 20 min sessions for those members and guests who would just like the opportunity to take their car on the circuit for a shorter period of time.
Track Session Costs (times approx)
Morning 8.30 - 12.40 £95
Short A 12.40 - 13.00 £25
Short B 13.40 - 14.00 £25
Afternoon 14.00 - 18.00 £95
Full Day (excluding shorts) £170
This format has been designed to allow the maximum amount of members chance to go on the circuit, on what is surely going to be one of the most popular events we've ever held at Donington.
Places are sure to sell out fast so you will need to book early. Usual club booking procedures apply, either online at http://shop.sidc.co.uk or by sending a chq payable to SIDC to me at Donno Day, PO Box 5604, NN4 0YJ.
We are hoping to have other activities on site for those not quite so keen on the track side, these will be announced as they are confirmed. The Sunday Market is also on too! :D
Other affiliated car clubs are being given the chance to join in
the days activities too, so it should be a top day. :)
Hope to see you all there.
Stef.

OK, I've never been on track before but think I'm about to give in ;) Biggest question is what about insurance? Where can I sort some out and how much will it cost? I don't want to take the risk I'll be covered by my road policy.
Thanks
Richard :)
Track insurance - contact Nik or Georgina on 0115 941 5255 (Egger Lawson). Premiums start at £55 per event, and depend on the amount of cover you want and the excess you are prepared to pay.

Hanslow 30 May 2002, 15:33 Scoobyshep,
If it's like all the others, it costs nothing to watch. Only need to pay money if you are out on track, either as driver or passenger ;)
I just go a long to spectate and catch up with people who aren't local. Donington get my money from the burger van :D

Are slicks allowed on track?

Chelsie-Bun 11 June 2002, 15:58 Baldrick
The only way to give this max coverage, is by keeping it at the top all the time..

Chelsie-Bun 11 June 2002, 16:00 There might be more interest on Scooby City because they know about it too..

It will be on the favoured National Circuit so does not include the hairpin, which in my book is a good thing. TN will be in attendance and as usual any tyre requirements can be pre-ordered with Mark on 01604 588599.
Stef.
Mellow Yellow ! 13 June 2002, 08:47 Aye....Full Monty here please....t'will be good to give my new motor a run out ;)
Are passengers allowed on the track sessions? And is there a minimum age? Only the lad who delivers my papers is a complete scooby nut and he's trying to persuade his parents to take him up there. If he makes it, I'd like to give him a passenger ride round to make his day.
Chelsie-Bun 13 June 2002, 16:07 Tony G
I am normally a passenger so it’s ok, but not sure about the age, your need two helmets or you can hire them at the circuit.
I think to be in a car it might be 16 but email Stef or ask on here.
