Even charge a small entry fee, with the proceeds going to the charity.
However i think the final say on this should be down to the family.
If they want this to happen, then they only need to say so.
We have to respect there wishes.
I am sure everyone on here would agree, we would all happily do this again, to make this an yearly event

Just wanted to say well done for organising a great day and well done to Zippy for hiding them tears.
Gotta say though, I think a few people were a bit bent of shape with the parking- We went to the trouble of following the list rules, displayed our numbers etc etc but then ended up in some car park in the wilds of wani. Bit disappointing after travelling 200 miles- can't be helped though just wanted to mention it.
I think one of our lads got some nice pics of Zippy and Conner on his Canon and when he gets them to me I'll pop them up for you

So it was a mad rush to try and juggle space and make alternative parking arrangements
We would have loved to have everyone park in there chosen area but under the circumstances it just wasn't possible
I'm sure you can appreciate the situation we were in

Yeah tell me about it , I had a few off hand comments on the day (two cars in perticular )
The thing some people don't realise is some of the guys marshalling on the day are also club members with nice cars and have been helping with everything behind the scenes since the beginning ( not just marshalling )

At the end of the day, you were there. To me, parking up anywhere near that estate was 'getting in', it was a big show spread out a little! We didn't care one bit despite the 3 1/2 hour journey and getting there at 11:30 that we were in another car park. Surely it can be seen that feeling disappointed about it really does look so damn trivial when you think of the pain, agony and heartbreak Connor's family are going through. If there were people there who were, then maybe they didn't quite get the day.
Also, if people didn't take the time to wander around all of the car parks then they really did miss out. I felt every car parked up in the various allocated car parks were part of the show. I certainly found that the overflow car parks added to the sense of the scale of the event, with such high quality machinery hidden away at the far end of the estate. To me that helped emphasise the incredible nature of the day.
To anyone who helped organise the event or run it on the day, you did an absolutely unbelievable job. You couldn't fit everyone in, to me thats a successful day! You just will never satisfy everyone. But you certainly did Connor and his family and that is all that matters. Privilege to be there.

Judging by the event, even if you were parked away from the centre main area, it shows how large the event actually was, and that if you were parked away from the centre, you are still part of the event and Im sure that your motor was appreciated by someone who did take the time to walk around the entire event and not just the centre area.
EDIT: Exactly my thoughts David although you worded it better than I have

Why mention it then..
To organise an event of this magnitude in 10 days is bloody amazing, and I for one would have been even more amazed if there wasn't a few hic-cups.
Congratulations to everyone and don't forget Fred Lawton for the venue.

There was a small number that just because they had a number they had rights to get in, but people that was parked in the surrounding areas also had a number, the number was there for purely a scare tactic to stop the uninvited guests turning up from fb and not on list members as we knew it may of happened and the parking could of been much worse.
Everybody was parked up very quickley and efficiently and no tail backs or queues so I'm happy with that.
Everybody was told from the start to be patient and understanding on the nature of the event and venue choice by the family and 99% did so thank you to all that did.
I would offer for the people that was not happy to try doing organising on set venue with the same circumstances.
Regards corky

Morning all,
From us from Team Polizei, we made it even with x1 navigation **** up, a split fuel line and x2 failure of throttle link.
Personnally speaking, on return last night to the Sussex coast, 580 miles, £110 in fuel and some used tools later it was a great day.
Connors reaction to what was happening was magical, was beaming (that alone made it all worth the sweat and tears on the journey up), his parents were overwhelmed, was a great gathering (shame some started leaving so soon tho). Connor's family did some great pieces on camera for Alex, you could really feel the apprieciation felt.....very genuine.
The numbers seen were great, the marshals did a fantastic job, what facilities available were (cleanest toilets at a public event I've ever seen!) WELL DONE ALL.
All in all, I've just woken up, still knackered but I won't hesitate to do this again next year!
Regards,
Whitey

I found it hard to believe that people had travelled so far for this event. Thanks to everyone for being so patient while we struggled with an almost impossible job of getting people parked up. If this is made an annual event. Then I'm sure numbers will only increase as would the size of venue.

Just wanted to say massive respect goes out to all who played a part in organising this mammoth event at this short notice. To the very few tit-whingers who were "put out" because of a minor issue - wind your neck in and put on the "big picture glasses" - It wasn't really about your car, it was just about being there as a person and a human being because you cared about that little 11 year old hero.
Just as a small example of the commitment and dedication to this cause shown by the organisers an American fellow Subaru owner & enthusiast put out a plea on SNet for a lift down from Newcastle upon Tyne. Jamo helped him get his message out there but when he lost contact with the our American brother he was going to drive up to Newcastle to pick him up and bring him down to Huddersfield himself - nuff said. Luckily though I saw the message and was able to get in touch with Elliott (the American) and brought him down and back with us. He was amazed at the show of community from the car enthusiasts who attended. Now his facebook profile is full of links about the day. Here are my photos from the day. Feel free to use them.

There is also a 6 day sale of Connor's day T-shirts by our American cousins with all proceeds going to Connor's nominated charity. I've ordered mine, get yours quick !

Ladies & Gents of Scoobynet, I have joined so I can post on the thread.
I and 20 other VXRO members attended today. And what a glorious day it was.
Ok, I had concerns of the parking of so many cars and tbh they came true. We had to all park up not inside but on a small car park past the main gate,THAT is my only gripe.
THE DAY WAS FABULOUS.
Organised and marshalled superbly, some seriously nice cars there. Did`nt actually get to meet up with the Family but then, they were all real busy.Did see young Connor and he just looked amazed at the turnout. Just for hin, a car nut just like us all!
Which in all fairness, I was too.
With such a short notice of the event, it was a great success.
WELL DONE TO YOU ALL FOR THIS DAY. And I hope I wont be speaking out of turn, But VXROnline were proud to of attended this event, if there are anymore planned or in the pipeline- keep us informed.

Without wanting to put a downer on this, someone took the opportunity yesterday to kindly steal the badges from the back of my RX7 while it was parked out of the way. I know this as the car only came out of a locked garage for the meet, and went straight back in. They've also broken a few of the others while trying to get them off.
I'm also realistic enough to realise I probably won't ever find out who did this, so just wanted to thank you for the scratches on the back of my car. Brilliant.

i'm sure there are 2-3 thousand people who attended who will queue behind you to kick some ***.
