I doubt the dealer would go crazy on the PDI test drive, there's a black box on the GTR that records telemetry and they know that (about 40 hours worth apparently).

I recon they will run the car harder when it's in for service to make sure it's not been tuned...

Or drop it off with the petrol on emty, they won't put a drop in. The squealer said if I wanted a full tank of fuel I'd have to pay for it so I declined. And dealer filling with petrol means another road test...

Tell them no road test on services. I do. It is just a joyride unless there is a specific problem, then I'd want to drive it. Your car, your rules.

John, a few questions on Cobb.

Is it worth going for speed density on an MY11 with y-pipe, K&N dropins and custom tune? I read somewhere that VMAX can cause trouble for the MAFs, so would it be safer to go speed density if for no other reason? Don't really want to change injectors for the sake of one VMAX event a year.

When I upgraded to Syvecs on the Scoob it seemed smoother on SD, so I assume it's the same on a GTR?

- If running SD mode, can the OE standard map still be used/switched on ie for comparison stock vs custom tune map?
- Are features like Save mode preserved running SD?
- If I leave the MAF sensors in but not switched on in between services, is this likely to cause a problem? I'm assuming the MAF heater wire will still be operating like usual but you're just ignoring the reading?
- How far off general release is SD?

Cheers

Andre

hahaaa.... and Im bad naming the car.... you have bought stuff for a car you dont yet have Brilliant!!!!

I am speaking to Robbie as well, hes a busy chap! Just waiting for my final prices on a load of stuff, vinyl wrap (interior trim, exterior trim), ypipe, cobbs, full protection detail

Skipping the rear pieces as I photoshopped a red car with to put them on and was not a huge fan.

Where is a good place to get the reversing cameras?? I was in too much of a hurry to negotiate for these things I can only see the rear wheels of the missus mini when parking on the drive........ NOT good!

Also tempted to put an exist AMP and 12" sub in to a corner in the boot..... standard sound system is lacking some base.

Robbie can fit the stickers so I can se in the flesh and they can be pulled off if the look naff. Also asked him to treat the engine bay to try and keep it looking better than the Scoob engine bay.

Are you fitting resonated y-pipe? I want to go on track, so I'm fitting one to manage noise levels but still louder than stock.

There's a thread on front and rear cameras on gtroc:

http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/154068-fr...-edm-cars.html

TBH the stock sound system is so much better than Scoob I'll not bother. I'll be driving with the windows down anyway

The airflow at very high speed can give odd MAF readings, depends on the intake. I wouldn't start with speed denisty on that spec though. SD is smoother unless you were on stock intakes, but MAF is more accurate which is why OEMs use it.

You can switch back to OEM map to compare, but you need to uninstall the SD tune then install the MAF tune, takes 16 minutes, just the way the firmware has been done for ease of use as few want to switch between them.

Save works on SD.

Yes we just ignore the reading, you can leave the MAFs in, one is required for its temperature probe anyway, although some relocate this to the charge pipe pre throttle.

I just develop, and my SD development work is complete. I don't know full release date as it is done by the folks in the US. We often leave things on extended test (a bit like Google do).

Interesting thread...

Not looked into the Ypipes yet, but track days are a must as I am paying for them on my insurance!

Yeah, stock sound system is a lot better, but I am these components lying around gathering dust

I'll be running stock intakes, so it sounds like standard set up will be the best option. But Alloy could benefit by the sounds of it.

Is the timing and knock sorted on 2011?

I've not personally tuned a 2011, but feedback from the tuners is good. The Cobb folk in the US who have a 2012 are playing with some other aspects of timing and knock control in testing as some of the 2011/12 cars seem to false knock. It may be noisy propshafts or something else.

That is for a TT RS, only that car has enough acceleration to keep the parking sensors in place. GTR isn't fast enough.
