Hi trails, i saw your thread on the parallel fuel rail mod, using just black fuel hose, attempting to flare the existing cut off fuel lines on the rails etc.
Did you actually use 8 mm hose?, did that hose fit onto the cars hard pipes well enough?, how did the system perform when in use?, any probs?, and are you still using it on the car?
thats all for now, hehe

I decided that I wasn't happy using the flared ends, the fit was OK and I have heard of other people using them...but on balance I decided that I'd be happier using proper fittings. I didn't bother with braided lines but kinda wish I had used them now just for peace of mind. Other than a leaky injector seal I've had no problems with the fuel system at all since I installed it though. hth.

Unhappy not quite the update I hand in mind...

So long since I’ve updated this...well I got my PC back last night with the intention of uploading pics from the changes I’ve made over the last three months. Last night didn’t go quite according to plan though...

Planted my right foot in fifth, hit full boost and BANG, tinkle, tinkle, hiss...then silence and huge clouds of smoke as I coasted to the side of the road . I’ve had a quick look and I can see I’ve a hole in my bottom end between the right hand IM runners. I’m guessing a melted piston and thrown rod, I’m hoping the heads haven’t been damaged too badly if at all but won’t know till I’ve pulled it out. Zak ( ), at Mocom has kindly offered to lend me a crane and stand while I remove it...so will crack on at the weekend.

I’ll post some pics once I have a clearer view of the damage.

Happened to mine 5 years ago, so can sympathise with you. Upside, is you build it stronger and better, downside, it costs more money!

thats the plan Steven; I'm working out my options at present, but as long as I'm sensible with the spec I hope to be back up and running within a few months...I'll bear in mind other peoples protracted build times and keep the spec at a reasonable level

Wow excellent read, very impressive write up and work carried out I'm looking to get back into Subaru ownership after over a year away from the marque, and threads like this are making me lust for a wagon more and more!

What are your plans for the engine? Keep it 2.0, nice 2.5 for extra torque, or one of the built/stroker options?

Keep up the good work

Kris

Probably going to go 2.1 CDB ...I'll be specing it so I can run a safe 450/450ish I'd like to be able run low 11's but still use it as a fast road\track thing. Although I enjoyed the power I've been waiting for it to break for the entire time it was running This time round I want a bit of headroom so I can thrash it with out worrying

Cheers Si

I have had a think about this and like to think I've learnt a bit from some of the protracted hugely expensive builds I've read about\seen. I've also just had to replace my central heating, fridge freezer and water mains supply which between them has eaten the money I've been saving for the build so money is a little tight at present

Stage 1; rebuild with a 2.1 CDB with a Simtek, retaining my current set up (18g TD05 and P1 box etc etc). I may be forced to replace my heads, I'll have to wait until its all stripped before the extent of the damage is visable. If the heads are OK I'm aiming to have this stage complete by June, if not I'll source some sti 5\6 heads but that will push the completion date out.

These build stages will depend on how far up **** creak the coutry is economically and how brave I'm feeling
Stage 2; 6 speed Forester box and ancillaries.

Stage 3; bigger turbo and injectors.

Stage 4; sti heads if I've not already replaced them.

My intention is to have it back up and running so I can use it ASAP and then add to the spec as I can afford to...I'm not in a position to chuck money at it at present so I'll take my time

Looking forward to the build though
