Did you know that Apple had to work pretty hard to get so many USB sockets on the new MacBook. It's all very complex. Give it a few years and it will be normal.
The Macbook has one port! You can't for example charge your Macbook at the same time and read an SDCard to transfer video or pics for editing and output to an external display, use thunderbolt storage etc, how are these technologies that are widely used by many video editors dying, how is wireless far better that transferring files than a thunderbolt connected storage?

Wireless is better because it has no wires.

Get a MacBook Pro, it has four.

Nothing is stopping you doing all of those things at once, and you only have to plug one thing in, isn't that great.

Wireless is not better since file transfers are too slow, especially when working with large files when editing video for example. So you spend a best part of £1500 on a laptop only for you to then need to spend a hundred pounds or so on dongles just so you can connect your devices to it. It would be fine if Apple actually made USB C devices, but they don't, only dongles to connect your devices.

If you can do all of those things at once and only have to plug one thing in, why have another 3 of these ports taking up precious speaker space!! To gather dust? Truth is one dongle cannot host those things you say, an external display and a thunderbolt device needs at least 2 dongles and then you need another one for your SD Card reader.

Look, there's bound to be a few people like you caught in the crossover, but USB-C is your future.

He's not, he's just one of those people with an irrational disliking/hatred of Apple who will actively go out of their way to find reasons to have a go at them (think TP). If I was bored enough I'm sure I could concoct a scenario where a windows laptop wouldn't have enough ports but I can't be bothered.

Jack my daughter bought a USB adapter lead to use on her Mac laptop because it doesn't have a USB socket for flash drive and DVD drive. In fact she bought an i5 hp laptop for university as the apple stuff is so awkward to interface with.

They aren't awkward, just different. At the end of the day it's no worse than a windows machine.

Incidentally for those of you harping on about USB and what not, Sandisk doing a range of wireless memory sticks that are a reasonable price.

Neil, you need to climb out of JackClark's ****, it's Christmas. I don't have an irrational hatred of Apple, I own several devices by Apple and will be giving my kids refurbished iPhone 5s's for Christmas, they deserve it. I was considering replacing my old laptop with the new Macbook Pro for my video stuff but I think I'm gonna stick with the 2015 version. Dongles hanging off an elegantly designed computer is an inelegant solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Why Apple couldn't have just added a USB-C port along with the existing ones or substitute it with one of the Thunderbolt ports?!

You have a 2015 MacBook and you're looking to replace it with a 2016. More money than sense. In 2020 when you should be looking your view on ports will be different.

No I have an old Thinkpad that I've been using since 2010, just fancy trying something different so looking at a 2015 Macbook Pro instead of the new 2016 model. I hear Final Cut Pro is pretty good for videos.

iMovie is great for movies and you don't have to buy that. .

I remember getting into work and plugging in an Ethernet cable, a DisplayPort, a USB drive and a camera via FireWire, then unplugging it all again to go home, it was rubbish. A friend had a dock, I was jealous but too tight to buy one as it was expensive.

Seeing it's the season of good will here's a little Christmas pressie that'll blow TPs mind. I was sorting through some boxes earlier and found an old Samsung slide phone that I had about 10 years ago and I couldn't not help but notice the lack of a headphone port, however Samsung did rather kindly provide one of these...

That's right kids, it's a dongle
