Have a look on shaks specialist cars in Huddersfield, has some proper stuff in there.
Me personally I'd get the new s3 as its nice without looking too loud for a daily. Quick map and a easy 300+

The S3 looks great in Saloon form but I think the 4 exhaust pipes look ridiculous.
Unfortunately, gone are my days of re-maps and it's still a 4 pot engine

Thanks for the Shaks heads up

The sports (option) seats are fine. I thought they might be a bit slippery since they don't have high bolsters AND they're real leather. No such issues and they're plenty comfortable with more adjustment over the A45 seats.

You really need to take them both out for DECENT test drives.... options and other stuff are just a distraction from the real question!

Forget whether you have the cash yet...... you're still talking about it, so get some test drives sorted. HOWEVER..... don't look for quick drives, as it will tell you nowt and these cars are not exactly cheap, and are both quite different.

I would be up front with the sales guy and tell him where you are. You really need the car for an hour imo. If your local doesn't entertain you, try another.

Yeah, I went to Redline also. Again, I thought the cars were way overpriced.
I was at the Audi Main dealer before going to redline and I could have had a newer car with less miles and a higher spec than I could of had at Redline. Either way, it's a bloody good place to go to see some great cars

Optimum vehicles????? I lived in Wetherby for 26 years and have never heard of this one!
Having said that, would I be right by saying they are an appointment only outfit on the trading estate near Waudbys MOT centre?

Soooooooo, I finally got my finances in order a few weeks back and I've been on the hunt ever since. Over time my love for the A45 has disappeared so I was pretty much left with one option. Problem was that I really only had a feel for the Daytona Grey (same as Shaun's) but on my nationwide Auto Trader search there were none in budget.
I ended up stopping in at Redline as they had a Nardo grey car in. It's a real marmite colour but I fell in love with it with the contrasting black styling pack. As it happened, there were a number of Nardo Greys available. I found one with the right spec and cutting to the chase - test drove it and bought it

No, I really couldn't stomach a £90k car having a £90k car problem
I did consider an RS4 but it's just too big. The real clincher was the 5 pot engine and the childish pops and bangs from the exhaust

Dealers will take 5 figs from you to replace an engine or gearbox in anything German and quick I reckon. So tune it or out of warranty and it is a risk you take.

Good old pop pops & bangs

It's ridiculous how fast these cars are nowadays, I'm blown away about the performance stats on the new ttrs and even the big standard Golf R, a friend of mine has a 2015 Golf R and they're beautiful, inside is lovely jubbly.

How do you feel the latest STI compares to the Germans scooby stew? 12 years I think since I drove a new STI so don't want to cling to old comparisons that suggest the Subaru would be ahead on suspension travel and rawness/feel, but behind on everything else except purchase price. So it would have higher taxes, worse fuel economy, worse refinement, poor interior, outdated electronics and build quality, an engine with a narrow power band that isn't very strong for tuning, no good automatic gearbox options and fixed suspension and relatively dumb differentials. Those are the typical perception of people buying German cars about what is wrong with the STI, do they still hold true do you think?

My list is a long one for this. I wanted an auto, the Impreza is just too plasticky, I have no faith in the 2.5, 4 pot engine. For me, the RS3 was jus "more" in every way.

I don't think I need to it's fast enough
On paper it has the same power to weight as my old Classic but that, in reality would struggle to keep up with this thing
The gearbox is stunning. I had a bit of a do with a new FRS the other day between roundabouts and he was loosing meters every time he had to grab a new gear
