So far intercooler has been taken off and sold, clutch and fly wheel stripped off along with alternator, aircon, steering pump. Next step is to take both manifolds off and clean/modify, turbo off and look out for something to run around 400bhp (sc36?)

You won't see 400bhp on a SC36,the bhp is all in the model number i.e "36" meaning 360bhp or a tad more,i would look for a SC42 with the right supporting mods will hit 400bhp+ allday, just make sure your car brakes are matched to cope with the added power,so you can stop the thing.SJ.

thats interesting as i have seen someone buy one being told they will get 400 from a 36, time will tell there! ill keep an eye out for a 42 then! brakes are pretty good on this one, but maybe a fresh set of pads would be on the cards to make sure

Looks like it's coming along nicely

2 questions , has the inlet manifold maintained its red colour as people say it comes up quite orange'y ??

And I can see your running hsd's that's my other dilemma. How harsh would you say your ride is

There is a small puddle yes, something to sort when the engines out, a quick dry out and re seal should sort it

Hi, it was resprayed with vht paint, it is a slightly lighter colour than stock but I wouldn't say it's got an orange colour to it, may just be the photos! The coilovers are a more harsher ride to the standard shocks and springs, but that's a given. Personally the stock was too boat like, so it's better now in my opinion

Ok thanks I'm just struggling to get a decent colour match for the earlier inlet manifolds as later cars have a much brighter red

Yeh I think I'm going to go coilees in the end

Car looks smart mate

Well it's time to get this swap started, this weekend consisted of pulling the old engine, gave it a good examine, no play in the turbo everything tight and clean, superb condition for 120,000 miles!
Then the bay was cleaned up a little, which lead me to find my power steering issue, the return pipe had rubbed through! I had already purchased a new pump and steering rack so the full system is now being swapped, rack was swapped, now just waiting on the lines to arrive so I can carry on the swap! Couple photos any way

on the mapping day there were a few issues, Neil didnt have the software to re code the sti ecu without matching transponder or key so we just ran the wrx ecu with a safe 1.4 bar of boost, without the AVCS heads. even like this we made 352 bhp and 298 ft/lb
will be going back in the next month or so with the final bits to get the lag down and hopefully push the power up a little more
