left school at 16
mate got me a job in a fish factory
got a job as a apprentice plant mechanic " fcuked that job up with young dumb and puffing weed "
worked at a agency working in offshore pipe yards doing pipe slinging
23 years old decided I wanted to better myself and went to college aiming to get a degree in chemistry
2 years into college my best mate asks me if I want to go work offshore
I was skint from being a student and went hellll yeaaa
started as a trainee offshore electric wireline operator in one of the biggest offshore service companys in the north sea in 2005
worked there until 2013 where I had risen to senior electric wireline operator.
best mate again asks me if I want a job with him in a Norwegian offshore oil company
as a tool specialist / field engineer working in Saudi Arabia working rotation
I take the job which has me now 19 months on building specialized downhole oil well tools
and going onto the rigs and running and installing them into the oil well.
a lot of responsibility and a lot of technical and mechanical knowledge is needed for this job
when I started because I had 8 years offshore experience in a similar specialized field I was thrown in at the deep end
to see how I handled it and fortunately took to it like a fish to water
and have 100% successes rate in both stripping and correctly redressing the rebuilding the specialized tools and 100% success rate with installing them in the well as well
over mountains of jobs on rigsite as I was one of the busiest tool specialists out on the rigs

At 18 moved to Salford to continue my academia at HND level.
Got a job with UB40 as their assistant engineer.
Worked up to Producer with them, working all around the world with very interesting and famous artists.
Left them after 2 albums to work part-time in college.
Left that college and moved back to the countryside for a full time job building up a music and sound engineering section whilst running a successful production company, doing music for the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Mercedes and Subaru a World Rally Team.
Been at this current place for nearly 15 years, whilst writing and playing in various forms. Also got my L7 in Strategic Management during this time.
Just been signed to a publishing company in the Far East, so will see where this takes me

Left school at 16 and walked into a JOb working with my Dad doing ground works. From there I moved onto driving 360degree tracked machines at 17 for the same company then left to join a plant hire company going out on hire with various different tracked machines.
At 20 I had a change of career and moved into classic car restoration, mainly aircooled Porsche and VW's. There I learnt the art of welding as well as mechanical with engine rebuilds, servicing etc etc.
At 29 I had another change of career as a lift engineers mate installing new lifts with my brother in law who had a small lift company subcontracting to many different lift companies. In my 16 years as a lift engineer I've worked for 3 different companies as a fitter as well as an installation manager and also 7 years as a subbie.
Along the way I've picked up NVQ3 Lift Installation and NVQ4 Lift testing qualifications and I'm currently working for a local company fitting and testing and have my 17 year old son as my apprentice who is working on his own qualifications with a Btec and NVQ2 electrical at college and a distance learning NVQ3 Lift Installation.

Me , plumber/plasterer etc...rental properties
, was ok but although paid well was hard work getting the £'s at times.Got offered a job managing a smallish building firm 6 weeks ago and ******* loving it , easiest job I've ever done and the pay is mint plus the added bonus of getting paid every week....bliss

Part-time at Homebase as a "shop floor assistant" for 2 years when I was in Sixth Form and during the summer holidays, then went to University for 2 years to study Criminology, then went straight to my Father's farming business. Been a farmer for over 4 years now.
Reading all the other posts here, mine seems really short and boring compared to all you lot who have done loads of different things and have worked all over the place....

School, Uni, dossed about a bit, worked on a farm, petrol station, Baggage handler then did aircraft taxi'ing, 1 week stint at quick fit lol, Service advisor for Toyota then Seat, then back to airport to do cargo handling, then freight forwarding, now Publishing logistics. I've had some sh!te jobs....still have a sh!te job tbh

"Left" school in 1985 
Put letters in envelopes for local authority for a few weeks
Wages clerk for same authority, covering for maternal leave.
Woman came back, had no job so applied for trainee computer operator with same authority, stayed there for 3 years.
Moved to finance company doing same job for a year, then got sick of shifts.
Became storage administrator on company's mainframe systemsfor 3 years.
Re-org moved me to a team doing improvements to scheduling systems on all platforms.
Moved to IBM in 1999, helped convert customers to IBM software from CA etc.
Moved back to the bank in 2003, designing and delivering the scheduling infrastructure.
Most of that probaly doesn't mean much, and it's not terribly interesting
It pays well though!

Did that for a few years then cash and carry for 1 year then at 20 dad got me a job for the railway ( brittish rail ) as a battery attendant , did that for a few years then became an assistant technician ( brittish rail) then went on to do an apprenticeship within the company (nvq 3 ) in electical and mechanical rail vehicles ! Now a technician still for the same company but not brittish rail . Been here 25 years next month .

open the door, pull the moulding out, close the door, push the button, trim the flash off with a scalpel and put the moulding in a box wait 30 seconds and do it all over again, 3 shifts 8hrs with a 30 min break, god I hated that job.

I separated the different plastics ( polypropoline, styrene etc ) then it's was ground down then fed into a hot compounder and dyed into chosen colours then chopped and bagged off into 25kg bags and staked on 1 ton pallets . God , it's all coming back to me ! What a **** job 12hr day all basic pay and when big orders came in you did a 2 days shift with the boss occasionally popping in with beer to keep you happy

I separated the different plastics ( polypropoline, styrene etc ) then it's was ground down then fed into a hot compounder and dyed into chosen colours then chopped and bagged off into 25kg bags and staked on 1 ton pallets . God , it's all coming back to me ! What a **** job 12hr day all basic pay and when big orders came in you did a 2 days shift with the boss occasionally popping in with beer to keep you happy

Did you have to deal with delrine (sp) as well? that stuff absolutely stank and I'm sure it must have been toxic, mostly used for medical stuff, I was glad when the foreman came round asking if anyone knew how to drive a van as one of the drivers was sick, I jumped at the chance to get off the machines and out of the factory.
then I just kept getting asked to go and drive so that was sweet.
